Tunnel/Jacobs: Children's Literature Briefly (Chapter 13)
Tunnel and Jacobs elaborated on the different types of biographies. They explained that these literary works can range in content from juvenile, fictionalized, to authentic. Yet, the key element of all biographies is that the events must be based in facts. Tunnels and Jacobs also mentioned that one common problem with biographies is that authors have a difficult time being totally objective about their subjects. It seems that personal perspectives often come into play, and they tend to color their objectivity. For this reason, it may be wise for people to read over several biographies for one subject to get a better assessment for that individual's true character.
