Laura Numeroff has hit a homerun with these circular story books! They are silly, but outrageously entertaining! In this story, a little girl offers a pig a pancake, and all of a sudden her kind gesture touches off a maddening frenzy of bizarre requests. The pig asks for syrup to go with the pancake, a bath to wash off the sticky syrup, a rubber duck to play with in the tub, etc. It is a hilarious sequence of funny events that eventually leads back to the pancake (circular story concept). It is a wonderful story to read to children, because they can relate to it. In all these circular stories, it is children who are cast in semi-parental roles (another great idea by Laura). In most instances, if the children like one book, they will be prone to read the other four books in this series!
